West Bengal: Massive fire in CCU at Calcutta Medical College
A fire broke out in the CCU (Coronary Care Unit) of Calcutta Medical College. Sparks from the ventilator machine caused a stir. PWD workers disconnected the ventilator machine as soon as flames and smoke were seen. The Kolkata Medical College Authority was reluctant to say whether any patient was harmed in the incident.
Kolkata: A massive fire outbreak took place in the CCU (Coronary Care Unit) of Calcutta Medical College. Sparks from the ventilator machine caused a stir. Administrative officials rushed to the spot. Many COVID patients were present in the building where the fire outbreak occurred.
Sparks were seen in the green building of Calcutta Medical College at around 10:45 pm on Friday (October 2). COVID patients were taken out of the building as soon as the fire outbreak took place. PWD workers disconnected the ventilator machine as soon as the flames and smoke were seen. However, the Kolkata Medical College Authority was reluctant to say whether any patient was harmed in the incident.

Recently, Kolkata Medical College has been repeatedly accused of many misdeeds. The government hospital has come to the fore many times facing allegations of bad treatment of patients, refusing admission of COVID patients, and indecent behaviour of doctors.
The massive fire outbreak caused a panic in the hospital. The families of the patients have been left worried about the safety and security of patients in the hospital.
