A suspected Pakistani spy was arrested by intelligence sleuths in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. The accused who identified himself as Nandlal Maharaj entered the country with a valid passport and visa. He was tracked down on Wednesday at a hotel in Jaisalmer.

"He was found in suspicious circumstances in Jaisalmer yesterday and was interrogated. He is now being taken to Jaipur,” U R Sahoo, ADG Intelligence told PTI. According to intelligence sources, he was helping to smuggle weapons and explosives into India.

Also there are reports that he was seen in one of the villages along the Jaisalmer border where even Indians need special permission to enter that particular area. A report in NDTV says that the villagers told investigators that Maharaj was offering money in exchange for information on high-security areas and arrangements.



Investigators are now probing his local connections in the border areas and those who helped him reach Rajasthan.
