BCCI President and former cricket captain of India Sourav Ganguly met West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata on Sunday (December 27).

There has been speculation that Sourav Ganguly may join politics. Ganguly, who reached Raj Bhavan at around 4.40 pm, did not answer any question on the reason for his visit to the governor.

After coming out from the meeting, Sourav Ganguly said, “This was just a courtesy call. The governor said he wanted to visit Eden Gardens and meet me. I said that was not possible today as there was some cricket practice going on. I decided to come and meet him and invite him to Eden Gardens next week.”
Mr Dhankar tweeted photos of himself with Sourav Ganguly. "Had interaction with 'Dada' @SGanguly99 President @BCCI at Raj Bhawan today (Sunday) at 4.30 pm on varied issues. Accepted his offer for a visit to Eden Gardens, oldest cricket ground in the country established in 1864," the governor tweeted.
According to Raj Bhavan sources, Sourav Ganguly's meeting with the Governor has nothing to do with political developments in the state.
