The Twitterati reacted vociferously to an article published by a tabloid defending Tarun Tejpal.

In an article that appeared on Mid-Day yesterday, Malavika Sangghvi argued that the media campaign against the Tarun Tejpal, the former editor-in-chief of Tehelka, has been “excessive”.
The Tehelka editor was accused of sexual assault by a female colleague, who also happened to be his daughter’s friend, in 2013. He had to step down from his position as editor and was jailed. Tejpal is currently out on bail. The matter is sub-judice in Goa court.
Sangghvi’s column has a sub-section exclusively dedicated to Tejpal. The section, titled “Time for a RE-THINK?”, has the writer saying that the act of assault was a “grave error”. Sangghvi goes on to add that his grave error has pricked his public image and has given "his detractors ammunition to demolish him”. And then, she says that the treatment meted to the journalist, who earned his bread and butter by exposes on wrongdoers, was really not 'needed'.
The lady journalist in an empathic manner writes that Tejpal, who is out on bail that he “is not in any condition to fight the good fight”.
