Thousands of birthday cards and Rakhi gifts for Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is imprisoned, are flooding a local post office in Haryana's Hisar postal division. Over 25,000 packages for Gurmeet Ram Rahim, imprisoned in Sunaria jail in Rohtak district, arrived at the Sidhani sub-post office in the previous 19 days.

Dera Chief's birthday is on August 15, and this year's Rakhabandhan celebration is on August 22. Gurmeet Ram Rahim's supporters observe the full month of August as Avatar month.
According to media sources, Ramesh Kumar, Chief Post Master, Sub Post Office Sidhani, stated that Dera adherents were spotted standing in lines with white and khaki envelopes. He went on to say that followers from several villages in the region were sending greetings for the Dera chief's 54th birthday, who was being held at Sunaria Jail.

Reports suggest that Chhinder Kaur Insan, a Dera Chief devotee, stated that he had sent greetings and Rakhi every year since their teacher was imprisoned in Sunaria. Because his birthday falls in August, the entire month is designated as Avatar month.

On Sunday, an unique delivery service for Rakhi was launched. As a result of the influx, 850 mail carriers and 2,190 Gramin Dak Sevaks are labouring to deliver rakhis.
As per reports, this year postal department distributed 2.95 lakh rakhis, whereas the previous year, 2.78 lakh rakhis were delivered. In August 2017, the Dera head was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping two of his female followers.
