4.36 PM: Man charred to death inside car in Alappuzha

A man identified as Jameskutty George was found charred to death inside his car at Thayankary in Edathua village on Saturday. Locals noticed the burning car near the Thayankary boat jetty around 3.45 am. The fire force personnel doused the flames by 4.15 am.
3.22 PM: Another boat mishap in Muthalapozhi harbour; Fishermen escaped
The fishing boat slammed into the Pulimuttu breakwater construction after losing control in the waves. The boat overturned. While some fishermen saved Moitheen, Abi was able to swim and save his life. Both were unhurt.
3.06 PM: Actor Vinayakan was interrogated by Ernakulam North Police in insulting Oommen Chandy case and seized his mobile phone.
2.55 PM: Man sentenced to death for killing 6-year-old boy, sexually assaulting his sister
The accused in the case of killing a 6-year-old boy by striking his head with a hammer and raping his 14-year-old sister in Idukki has been awarded the death penalty by a fast-track POCSO court on Saturday. The accused Sunilkumar (50) killed Abdul Fathaah Raihan, the son of Riyas and Safiya from Anachal, Idukki.

12.23 PM: Man sexually assaults Class 7 girl for two years; arrested
A man who sexually assaulted a class 7 girl in Kanjikuzhi, Idukki has been arrested. The accused Jishnu reportedly assaulted the minor girl continuously for two years. The girl revealed the matter about the heinous crime of sexual harassment during the counseling held at the school. The action was taken on the complaint of the school authorities.

A 17-year-old Malayali student was shot dead in California on Friday (July 21). The deceased has been identified as Jackson, son of Sunny. The Kerala-based family hails from Kaipuzha in Kottayam district. Jackson's mother Rani is working as a nurse in the US.
10.13 AM: Kottathara Tribal Specialty Hospital successfully performs first keyhole surgery
The Kottathara Tribal Specialty Hospital in Palakkad's Attappady successfully carried out its first keyhole surgery. The free surgery was performed on two youths who injured their left knee in a bike accident. This surgery costs around Rs.1.5 lakh in a private hospital. The surgery was done completely free of cost using the health and safety scheme of the government.

Fake antique dealer and accused Monson Mavunkal has demanded a CBI probe into the antiquities fraud case. He alleged that three top officials of the state trapped him. Mavunkal said that he would file a private suit in the High Court. His response came while he was being taken to jail after being produced in the Perumbavoor court.
