Thiruvananthapuram: The Central agency will investigate Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh's connection with a state minister's son. On social media, the pictures of Swapna Suresh with a minister's son in a hotel party have gone viral on social media.

According to sources, the investigation team will check the pictures and investigate the connection between the duo. The sources added that the hotel party took place in 2018. The minister's son organised a party for Swapna Suresh, as she helped him with a visa problem in UAE.

It has to be also noted that another minister's son was also a part of the hotel party. It is alleged that the minister’s son received a portion of the commission, worth Rs 4 crores, provided by Unitac in connection with the Life Mission project.

The Kerala gold smuggling scam came to light after the Customs department seized 30 kg gold from an air cargo consignment from the UAE to the country’s consulate in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5.

The case took a political turn after photos of Swapna Suresh with Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan surfaced.
