Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai who was in Madikeri on Friday, has stated that there is a proposal to set up a special task force exclusively for the cow slaughter, and illegal cattle transportation. Basavaraj also added that illegal home stays in Kodagu will be acted against.
Madikeri: State home minister Basavaraj Bommai who was in Madikeri on Friday, stated that there is a proposal to set up a special task force exclusively for the cow slaughter, and illegal cattle transportation.
Speaking to media persons in Madikeri, Basavaraj said that a committee led by deputy commissioners with the inclusion of NGOs have been formed already to regulate cow slaughter and cattle trafficking.
"We have been collecting suggestions and opinions. We assure you that stern steps are being taken against cattle traffickers and the ones who assist in these tasks. There is a proposal to set up work forces” Basavaraj Bommai stated.
Meanwhile the state Home Minister noted that the law and order situation in Kodagu district is in control but because of the wild elephant menace a lot of agriculture and lives are being lost.
Basavaraj Bommai said that the Chief Minister's attention will be drawn after holding discussions with the district in-charge minister, the need to enhance the compensation payable.
The state Home Minister said that the home department is committed to strengthen the police in Kodagu and ten crore rupees will be provided in the next budget to build the office of the superintendent of police here.
He also said that steps will be taken to appoint necessary staff to stations and stated that illegal home stays in Kodagu stays will be acted against.
