As the world joins to celebrate the third edition of International Yoga Day today, social media platform shows how souls join. PM Narendra Modi's take on the spiritual connect of Yoga was well received. Addressing a huge gathering at the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan on the occasion of the third International Yoga Day celebrations here, he also asserted that the traditional practice has now become part of every person's life.

"Many countries which do not know our language, tradition, or culture, are now connecting to India through Yoga. The practice, which connects body, mind and soul, has played a big role in binding the world too," he said. 

Although he is in Lucknow now, performing some mind-bending Yoga moves, he set us thinking too about the health benefits of Yoga when he said that Yoga gives health on zero budget. Modi, along with UP CM Yogi Adityanath lead thousands of Yoga enthusiasts, is leading thousands of Yoga enthusiasts in performing asanas.

According to the officials of Lucknow District Administration, close to 51,560 Yoga enthusiasts performed various Yoga asanas at the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan.

Some of the other participants this day are Patanjali Sansthan, NCC, Dev Sanskriti Sansthan, Art of Living, Brahmakumaris, CRPF and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Close to 80 foreign participants also marked the occasion, including the 96-year old Yoga instructor- 96-year-old Tao Porchon-Lynch. 

The event in Lucknow started at 6:30 am in the morning and invites were sent to several dignitaries including Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and BJP chief Amit Shah started the celebrations in Ahmedabad at 5.30 am. Exactly three years ago, PM Modi persuaded the United Nations to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day. Events are being held in 180 nations across the world today.
