IMD: Orange alert issued in various districts of Kerala for two days

On October 21, orange alert has been issued in  Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad of Kerala.

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday (October 21) issued an orange alert and predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall for two days in various districts of Kerala.
 
According to the weather forecast agency, an orange alert has been issued in 12 districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad, which will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall today accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has also been issued for October 22 in 13 districts, including Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod.

Orange alert is a warning for extremely bad weather with the potential of disruption in commute with road and rail closures, and interruption of power supply. The sounding of the orange alert is a sign for people to prepare for evacuation, keep food packets ready and protect themselves and their family from bad weather.
