Expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh out on bail

  • Dayashankar Singh, the expelled BJP leader who was arrested for comparing Mayawati to a sex worker, was released today on bail
  • He said he will go to Lucknow to meet his family
  • However, BSP termed the court's order as “not in keeping with law” and said that it will be challenged in the High Court
Expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh out on bail

Expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh was released from Mau district jail on Sunday after he was granted bail yesterday.“My wife and daughter are not well, will go to Lucknow straight away, to meet my family,” Dayashankar told the media after he was released.

 

According to The Indian Express, Additional District Judge of SC/ST Court Ajay Kumar granted bail to Singh on two surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each.However, BSP’s general secretary Satish Chandra Misra said that the court's order is not lawful, and it will be challenged in the High Court. 

 

Singh was arrested on July 29 for comparing BSP supremo Mayawati to a sex worker. Followed by which BJP expelled the leader from the party. He had been booked under IPC sections 504, 509, 153A and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at Hazratganj police station on July 2.
