The Emirates flight bound to Dubai from Tiruvananthapuram had 226 Indians on board. They all owe their safety to Jasim Issa Mohammed Hassan, as he fought till his last breath to control the fire from spreading so that his co-passengers could get out of the flight safely.
Once the plane crash-landed, Hassan sent the 12 staff and 282 passengers out of the aeroplane when he noticed the smoke. After all 300 people were out of the plane, he started running towards the exit himself, but his body had caught fire by then.
The fire on him spread rapidly and he succumbed to burns.
People on board are in a shock about their near-death experience as well as death of Hassan. Condolences are pouring in from every quarter of the world for this hero, who saw a tragic end.
