Kolkata: Eastern Railway on Friday (November 27) gave the state government the permission for opening the Majherhat Bridge. The state PWD, implementing agency of the new bridge, was waiting for this final approval, before commissioning the structure.

The state Public Works Department (PWD) minister Aroop Biswas on Thursday (November 26) stated at Nabanna that there was delay in completing construction of the bridge by around nine months as the railways had delayed in giving different necessary clearances.
