The autopsy conducted on the four-year-old child, allegedly killed by his mother in a Goa service apartment during a vacation, has revealed that the child died due to strangulation, likely with a pillow or some other material. Suchana Seth, the 39-year-old CEO of Bengaluru's artificial intelligence start-up, The Mindful AI Lab, has been apprehended in Chitradurga, Karnataka while en route from Goa to Bengaluru, carrying her son's lifeless body in a suitcase.

Hiriyur Taluk Hospital's administrative officer Dr Kumar Naik, who conducted the post-mortem, stated that rigor mortis had resolved in the child. He noted that, unusually, there were no signs of rigor mortis after 36 hours, suggesting the child's death occurred more than 36 hours before the discovery. Despite this, no blood loss or struggle marks were found on the child's body.

In Goa, a senior police officer involved in the investigation claimed that the child was smothered, "possibly using a pillow from the service apartment." The officer reported that Seth allegedly attempted suicide by slitting her wrists with a pair of scissors. Blood samples have been collected, and a DNA test will be conducted to verify this.

Suchana Seth's estranged husband, Venkat Raman, returned to India from Jakarta upon learning of his child's murder. Arriving in Chitradurga, Karnataka, Raman gave his consent for a post-mortem on his son's body.

The tragic incident unfolded in a service apartment at Candolim in North Goa between January 6 and 8. Seth had checked in with her son on January 6 and left for Bengaluru on January 8 morning. The police were alerted by apartment staff who found blood stains in the room and noticed Seth carrying an unusually heavy bag without her child. Upon investigation, the child's lifeless body was discovered in the bag, leading to Seth's arrest in Chitradurga. A Goa court has remanded her in police custody for six days.
