2 siblings sentenced to life in prison for mauling their brother to death
A man was killed by two of his own brothers due to a family dispute. The two brothers tried to burn the body of the victim to destroy the evidence. On August 28, the Kalna sub-divisional court sentenced the two brothers to life imprisonment along with fines.
Kolkata: Due to family conflict, a man was killed by two of his own brothers. After killing their sibling, the two brothers tried to burn his body and destroy evidence. The allegation was made in Kelenoi Uttarpara village of Kalna in East Burdwan. On August 28, the Kalna sub-divisional court sentenced the two brothers convicted to life imprisonment along with fines.
Reportedly, on October 19, 2018, the two brothers Ashok and Tapash Sardar were accused of beating their brother Bikash Sardar to death. Police started an investigation based on the allegations made by Bikash's wife.

In court, the lawyer said that the brothers were accused of killing their own sibling in 2018 due to a dispute over property. On August 19, 2018, the court convicted the accused under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The Kalna sub-divisional court sentenced the two brothers to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 3,000, and an extension of imprisonment for six months if the accused fails to pay the fine.
