Tej Pratap Yadav floats new student outfit; BJP calls him bogus student-dnm

Amid his ongoing tussle with brother Tejashwi Yadav and sidelined within the family, Tej Pratap Yadav has launched a new student organisation named Chhatra Janshakti Parishad.

Yadav launched the Chhatra Janshakti Parishad and claimed that it was not meant to pose any challenge to the Chhatra RJD, the party’s official student wing, but work towards “mobilizing youth at the village level”.

Tej Pratap made his supporters top office-bearers in the new outfit — Prashant Pratap as its president and Aryan Rai the vice-president. “I have sought blessings of my father (Lalu). Janshakti Parishad will work as a subsidiary of RJD,” he said.

RJD rank and file, which has been witness to Tej Pratap Yadav’s tantrums for a while, viewed the development with bemusement. Speaking on condition of anonymity, some of them pointed out that the volatile leader had reacted similarly during the Lok Sabha polls of 2019 when he floated a “Lalu Rabri Morcha” when his cronies were denied tickets, news agency PTI reported.

They agree that the fact of being the son of Lalu Prasad and rustic mannerisms reminding the masses of his legendary father make Tej Pratap Yadav more than a pushover, the report said.

Nonetheless, few in the party believe that he can muster the tenacity of purpose which was required if he wished to emerge as a credible centre of power since the RJD seems to have reconciled itself to Prasad having anointed the younger son as his heir apparent, the report said.

Using the opportunity to hit out at Lalu Yadav, the BJP said that the RJD supremo did not consider seniority in his own family and forcibly kept his elder daughter Misa Bharti and elder son Tej Pratap out of family and politics and handed over the political legacy to his younger son Tejashwi Yadav.

In a statement as reported by PTI, BJP spokesperson for the state Nikhil Anand said, “We sympathise with him. His father has treated the party as a personal fiefdom and failed to do justice to his own son.” He further added, “It is ironic, and a poor reflection on the RJD, that Tej Pratap Yadav, who never cared to educate himself, shall be floating a students’ body. No wonder the party has lost trust of the people”.

“The one who has been wronged in the family will fight for his existence and Tej Pratap is seen repeatedly expressing this frustration. Tej Pratap has now formed his new organisation in the name of students, but unfortunately he himself has not received good education properly. Now, will this bogus student run the organisation of the students?” Party spokesperson Nikhil Anand said.
