A day after the Enforcement Directorate summoned Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha Raut in connection with the PMC Bank money laundering case, the party has lashed out at the probe agency and the Centre.

In the morning, Shiv Sena workers put up a banner outside the Enforcement Directorate office in Mumbai, labelling it as 'BJP state office'.

Hours later, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut lashed out at the BJP for using State machinery to target "women of a household" and called it an "act of cowardice".

"We are not scared of anybody. We will respond accordingly. The Enforcement Directorate needed some papers and we have submitted them in time," he said.

"In the last year or so, (NCP supremo) Sharad Pawar, Eknath Khadse and Pratap Sarnaik got notices and now my name is being discussed. All these people have been instrumental in government formation in Maharashtra. These are pieces of paper, nothing else," he further said.
