Priyanka Gandhi to hold meeting with Uttar Pradesh Congress leaders to strategise for polls
In an effort to strengthen its position in Uttar Pradesh before next year's Assembly election, Priyanka Gandhi will hold a meeting with Congress leaders from Uttar Pradesh. Leaders will be asked to focus on real issues concerning Uttar Pradesh and appeal to them to take the same before voters.
Priyanka Gandhi will meet farmer leaders and farmer unions to discuss the farmers protest on July 16 as part of the party's strategy to perform better in the 2022 Assembly election.
The meeting was earlier scheduled on July 14, however, the schedule has now changed. It is said that Priyanka Gandhi who is also Congress General Secretary, will focus only on Uttar Pradesh as this will be like a morale booster in case the party makes significant inroads.
Since early 2020, she has been actively involved in UP's affairs be it Covid management, the Hatras rape incident and others to attract voters' attention.
On July 12, she held a video conference and addressed all the senior Congress leaders of Uttar Pradesh and asked them about their feedback. The measures are a preparation ahead of the Uttar Pradesh election.
The leader also spoke about a recently held panchayat election in which the party faced a humiliating loss. The leader dubbed this loss was due to BJP sponsored malpractice and also violence.
She asked the leaders to highlight the real issues like increase in fuel rates, its impact on other products like fruits, vegetables; law and order issues, rising unemployment and others.
