West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday in Delhi. This meeting is the first one since the two parties contested against each other in the Bengal Assembly elections. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present during the meeting.

Addressing the reporters after the meet, Banerjee said, "Sonia Gandhi invited me for tea, and Rahul Gandhi was also there. We discussed the political situation in general, Pegasus and COVID situation and also discussed the unity of Opposition. It was a very good meeting. I think the positive result must come out in the future."

She stressed the fact that everyone needs to come together to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She further added, "Alone, I am nothing - everyone will have to work together. I am not a leader, I am a cadre. I am a person from the street."
