Amid growing dissent in the Congress camp and senior leaders wary, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will take a final call on the induction of election strategist Prashant Kishor in the party.

According to party sources, Sonia has already started the consultation process with senior leaders, many of whom are opposed to the idea.

It has been learnt that G-23, the group of 23 leaders who had written to Sonia Gandhi last year seeking a complete overhaul of the party, has raised objections to Prashant Kishor's induction, with speculations rife that he may get an extraordinary status if he joins the party.

Kishor who recently worked with the Trinamool Congress, has been credited as the man behind the thumping victory of the party in the West Bengal Assembly elections.

Kishor had recently met the three Gandhis amid talk of his joining the Congress party and assuming a key role of election management. According to reports quoting sources, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have no objection to his joining the party as they have worked with Kishor in the run-up to the last Uttar Pradesh elections.

Reports state that Kishor is aiming at a full-fledged role and decision-making authority on election-related issues, but some party leaders are averse of giving a free hand to one person on the selection of candidates.

The Congress is in search of advisors after two poll debacles. With the demise of seasoned leader Ahmed Patel, Congress has already lost an ace strategist.

Prashant Kishor, a sharp poll strategist has proved his mettle multiple times with multiple political parties at multiple elections, delivering his mandate with a success rate of 100%, a prime example of it being Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
