IAF-HAL deal for 83 LCA Tejas aircraft to be signed on February 3

Indian Air Force and the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will sign a mega Rs 48,000-crore deal for procurement of 73 LCA Tejas Mk-1A and 10 LCA Tejas MK-1 trainer jets on February 3 on the sidelines of the Aero India 2021.

Indian Air Force and the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will sign a mega Rs 48,000-crore deal for procurement of 73 LCA Tejas Mk-1A and 10 LCA Tejas MK-1 trainer jets on February 3 on the sidelines of the Aero India 2021.

The Union Cabinet had cleared the proposal to procure 73 Tejas Mk-1A variants and 10 LCA Tejas Mk-1 trainer aircraft from the HAL on January 13.

The LCA Tejas Mk-1A is an indigenously designed, developed and manufactured state-of-the-art modern 4+ generation fighter aircraft. 

It is equipped with critical operational capabilities of Beyond Visual Range Missile, Electronic Warfare Suite, Active Electronically Scanned Array Radar and Air to Air Refuelling.
 
The deal will see the Light Combat Aircraft being produced in two production lines at Bengaluru with over 500 plus production partners across India. 

All 83 aircraft would be delivered to Indian Air Force over the next decade commencing 36 months from contract signing. The HAL aims to deliver 16 aircraft in a year to the IAF.
