Indian Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria on Monday arrived in Dhaka to further boost military cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

On an invitation from his Bangladesh Air Force counterpart Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria will pay courtesy calls on senior military leadership of the country.

Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria is on a 4-day visit to Bangladesh wherein he will visit key operational bases of the Bangladesh Air Force.

"The two sides will discuss the progress made in areas of shared interests and explore avenues to further mutual military cooperation," an official statement said.

BAF chief was in Bengaluru to represent his country at the Chiefs of Air Staff Conclave 2021 at Air Force Station Yelahanka, where he led a delegation to Aero India 2021 earlier this month.

His visit to Bangladesh comes at a significant period for both Bangladesh and Indian Armed Forces as the two celebrate 50 years of the 1971 war.

"It will enhance the existing professional ties and bonds of friendship between the two air forces," it said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Bangladesh on March 26-27 to join Bangladesh's 50th year of independence celebrations and 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh.

ACM Bhadauria will also pay tribute to the members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, who made the supreme sacrifices during the Liberation War of 1971, by laying a wreath at the memorial of Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment.
