Over 50 wrestlers sue WWE, including Jimmy Snuka

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is being sued by over 50 wrestlers including Jimmy ‘Snuka’ over neurological injuries that they have suffered as the organisation failed to provide them with adequate medical care.

According to Fox Sports, the complaint which was filed by over 50 wrestlers who have worked with the WWE since 1970 accused the body of keeping the fighters in the dark about their rights by classifying the wrestlers as 'independent contractors'. “WWE placed corporate gain over its wrestlers’ health, safety, and financial security, choosing to leave the plaintiffs severely injured and with no recourse to treat their damaged minds and bodies,” the complaint said.

The lawsuit further seeks compensatory and punitive damages as well as improved medical monitoring. However, WWE has denied all the allegations and said in its statement: “This is another ridiculous attempt by the same attorney who has previously filed class action lawsuits against WWE, both of which have been dismissed. A federal judge has already found that this lawyer made patently false allegations about WWE, and this is more of the same. We're confident this lawsuit will suffer the same fate as his prior attempts and be dismissed.”

Earlier also WWE had dismissed lawsuits accusing it of hiding risks associated with head injuries. According to a report in Guardian, Konstantine Kyros, the lawyer who is fighting the case on behalf of the 50 wrestlers said called WWE an "exploitative business model" who is known to keep its clients from learning their rights under laws such as the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act.

In the complaint, the wrestlers have mentioned that they have been suffering from cognitive difficulties including headaches, dizziness, memory loss, confusion, depression and mood swings.
