Google employee raped, murdered, set on fire in Massachusetts

Vanessa Marcotte, an employee of Google in the New York City, was visiting her mother in Massachusetts when she disappeared from her afternoon walk on Sunday.

The incident was reported to police, and the victim’s body was found in the woods on Sunday night.

According to a Daily Mail report, the body was found with the help of police dogs. Investigating officers have not confirmed the cause of death. The cops, however, suspect an act of homicide and have asked the neighbours to be vigilant.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Junior said, they had "horrible facts and circumstances" and hence couldn’t comment on the motive for the killing until further investigation.

Meanwhile, her victim's employer, Google has released a statement in Marcotte’s condolence.

"Vanessa Marcotte was a much-loved member of the Google team, working in our New York office for the last year and a half, and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work and love of Boston sports. We are deeply shocked and saddened, and our thoughts are with her family and friends."

The case is currently under investigation.
