Photos: US city Minneapolis burns after black man’s death in police custody; white cop charged with murder
Minneapolis: The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the US saw violent protests over the death of a black man in police custody. Protesters set a police station on fire, burnt down vehicles, ransacked shops. In other cities of America too people gathered on streets to protest. In a video that has gone viral, police officer Derek Chauvin was seen kneeling on an unarmed black man’s neck. This led to the death of the 46-year-old George Floyd. Following this, Chauvin and three other police officers were dismissed from service. On Friday (May 29), Chauvin was arrested and charged with murder. A CNN reporter who was covering the protests in Minneapolis was arrested live on air, along with his camera crew. Later, they were released.
