EPL 2020-21 preview: Race for top-four intensifies on Matchday 36
The English Premier League 2020-21 has just a couple of more matchdays remaining, with Manchester City already crowned champion. Meanwhile, defending champion Liverpool continues to stay in the race for top-four.
The 2020-21 English Premier League is a few steps away from the conclusion. Manchester City has already won its seventh league title. The race for the top-four is intensifying, with a couple of spots up for grab. With defending champion Liverpool in the race, we present the preview for Matchday 36 that has a lot to play for.
City looks to test its bench against Newcastle United
City can breathe a sigh of relief after winning the championship. With a couple of more games to go, the side would like to test its bench strength ahead of the next season, besides keeping the core XI fresh for the all-important UEFA Champions League final against Chelsea. As it travels to take on 16th-placed Newcastle on Friday, it should be an easy win for the Cityzens. However, the Magpies could cause an upset.
Tottenham Hotspur has to win against Wolverhampton Wanderers
Tottenham is one of the teams that remain in the race for the top four. Currently placed seventh, Spurs has no choice but to win against the 12th-placed Wolves at home on Sunday. While a win could help Spurs rise to the sixth spot, a loss would undoubtedly rule it out of a top-four finish.
Liverpool cannot afford to screw up against West Bromwich Albion
The defending champion is coming off a terrific win against second-placed Manchester United at Old Trafford. The success has certainly allowed The Reds to stay in the top-four contention while currently placed fifth. As it travels to take on an already-relegated West Brom, Liverpool would be eyeing for a win that could help it stay fifth and remain in contention. However, a loss could drop it to sixth.
Everton should have it easy against Sheffield United
Eighth-placed Everton happens to be in the race for a European spot and it would host an already-relegated Sheffield United on Sunday. Least to say, it should be an easy ride for The Toffees, as a win could help it rise to sixth.
