Hummer EV 'Edition 1' hasn't even been made, but it's already sold out
General Motors has informed that it has sold out the first year's orders for the Hummer EV electric pickup truck. Interestingly, the production of Hummer EV 'Edition 1' will only start next year.
The new Hummer can "crab walk" sideways on rough terrain using its four-wheel steering system.
The electric pickup truck also has a "Watts to Freedom" mode that accelerates it from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3 seconds.
Inside the pickup, the dashboard has a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch screen for the driver's gauge cluster.
Hummer EV 'Edition 1' has a 1,000 HP and up to 11,500 pound feet of torque.
The pickup comes with GM's self-driving technology, Super Cruise which lets the truck to drive partly autonomously.
The battery pack is capable of connecting to an 800 volt charging system that will give the vehicle 100 miles or range in 10 minutes of charging.
The GMC Hummer EV will have a muscular design including front and rear fenders. The steep windshield and bonnet are small compared to other parts of the body. It also features a roof-mounted spoiler, dual-tone alloy wheels with noble tires, sloping C-pillars, a flat roof without rails, a large glass area and a small loading bed.
The new Hummer EV comes with 35 inch tires that can be increased to 37 inches. According to reports, the pickup truck also comes with underbody armour and an UltraVision system that includes underbody cameras to help the driver navigate tricky terrain.
Initial availability of the Hummer EV pickup next fall will start at $112,595 (Rs 83,13,356), including destination charges, for the 'Edition 1' version. A $99,995 (Rs 73,83,045) version will be available a year later, followed by $89,995 (Rs 66,44,704) and $79,995 (Rs 59,06,362) models in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
