Azim Premji only Indian among world's top billionaires donating in fight against coronavirus
According to the data compiled by Forbes, 77 billionaires had donated to different causes to do with coronavirus relief till the end of April.
Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc across the world. Over 2,00,000 people globally have lost their lives because of the deadly virus and millions are still suffering. In order to help authorities, deal with this crisis, many billionaires have stepped forward and donated large sums.
Jack Dorsey: The Twitter CEO has donated the highest amount, $1,000 million, in the global fight against coronavirus.
Bill and Melinda Gates: Microsoft founder Bill Gates along with his entrepreneur wife Melinda Gates have donated $255 million to causes related to coronavirus.
Azim Premji: The third-largest donation comes from an Indian. The chairman of IT giant Wipro has donated $132 million (Rs 1,000 crore). The Azim Premji Foundation, Wipro and Wipro Enterprises together have committed an aid of Rs 1,125 crore for tackling the unprecedented health and humanitarian crisis arising from the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
George Soros: The fourth-largest private donation came from the Hungarian-American billionaire as he donated $130 million.
Jeff Bezos: World's richest man is ranked fifth in the list. The Amazon CEO has donated $100 million so far.
Jeffrey Skoll: Founder and chairman, Participant Media of Skoll Foundation has donated $100 million.
Andrew Forrest: The seventh-largest donation came from an Australian businessman who was the former CEO of Fortescue Metals Group. He has donated $100 million.
Michael Dell: American billionaire businessman, who is the chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies donated $100 million.
Micheal Bloomberg: The owner and co-founder of Bloomberg has donated $74.5 million.
Lynn and Stacy Schusterman: The tenth-largest private donation came from an American philanthropist as she donated $70 million.
