Chikkamagaluru: Woman Posing As PSI Arrested In Gold And Money Fraud Case
Chikkamagaluru police have arrested Nivedita Gowda for allegedly posing as a PSI and defrauding more than 25 people of crores of rupees and gold. Police said she reportedly handed over the fraudulently obtained valuables to her lover.
Fake PSI Arrested In Chikkamagaluru
Chikkamagaluru City Police have arrested Nivedita Gowda, who allegedly posed as a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and defrauded people of crores of rupees and gold jewellery by falsely claiming to hold the post.
Woman Allegedly Targeted Customers At Her Café
Originally from Ramanagara district, Nivedita Gowda ran a café in Chikkamagaluru city, where she allegedly targeted young men and women who visited the establishment.
She reportedly introduced herself to customers as a police officer and used the false identity to deceive them.
Fraud Worth Crores Involving Over 25 People
To convince people that she was a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) from Bengaluru’s Rajagopalanagar Police Station and was currently on leave, she reportedly adopted a police-style haircut and attire.
She allegedly defrauded more than 25 people across several districts of crores of rupees through schemes including borrowing luxury cars from acquaintances and selling them to others.
Police Probe Reveals Details Of Alleged Fraud
Nivedita Gowda allegedly handed over gold and money obtained through fraud to her lover, Devu. Cases have been registered at the Basavanahalli and City police stations in Chikkamagaluru following complaints from more than 20 victims.
During police interrogation, Nivedita reportedly confessed that she had given the money and gold to Devu.
Fake Aadhaar Cards Found On Her Mobile Phone
Fake Aadhaar cards bearing different names were reportedly found on Nivedita Gowda’s mobile phone. Police have arrested Nivedita, who allegedly posed as a PSI, and are questioning her. Meanwhile, police are conducting an extensive search for her boyfriend, Devu, who is reportedly absconding.
