Sexual Harassment, Religious Conversion: How TCS Nashik Controversy Has Sparked Nationwide Concern
A major case at TCS Nashik involves allegations of sexual harassment, coercion, and forced religious practices by many employees. Multiple FIRs have been filed, with 7 arrests made. Absconding HR manager Nida Khan is accused of ignoring complaints.

TCS Nashik case and the serious allegations
A major controversy has emerged from the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where several employees have been accused of serious crimes. These include sexual harassment, rape, molestation, stalking, and forcing religious practices.
The allegations come from multiple women employees, mostly aged between 18 and 25. The incidents are said to have taken place over a long period, from 2022 to early 2026.
So far, nine FIRs have been filed against eight employees, including six men and two women. At least seven accused have been arrested, while one key accused is still missing.
Who are the accused
Those arrested include Asif Ansari, Danish, Shafi Shaikh, Shahrukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, and Tausif Attar. Another arrest is of Ashwin Chainani, who worked as Operations Manager and was linked to the company’s POSH committee.
The police are also searching for Nida Khan, an HR manager, who is currently absconding.
Who is Nida Khan
Nida Khan is a former HR manager at the TCS BPO unit in Nashik. She studied at Savitribai Phule Pune University.
She was also part of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), which is meant to handle workplace harassment complaints under the POSH Act.
Her role was to ensure that employee complaints were taken seriously and acted upon. However, investigators now claim she failed in her duty.
Some reports suggest she left the company in January 2026.

Main allegations in the case
The women who filed complaints have made several serious allegations. They claim they were:
- Promised better jobs, promotions, or salary hikes
- Pressured into relationships
- Blackmailed and harassed
- Molested or raped in some cases
- Forced to follow religious practices like offering namaz
- Pressured to eat non-vegetarian food
- Asked to convert their religion
These claims have shocked many people and raised serious questions about workplace safety.
Key findings in TCS Nashik harassment probe
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged harassment case at the Nashik branch of Tata Consultancy Services has found fresh evidence pointing to serious lapses and possible collusion among the accused. According to investigators, several complaints made by victims were allegedly ignored and not forwarded to senior officials.
The SIT said this may have helped the accused continue their actions without immediate scrutiny. During the probe, police recovered around 78 suspicious call records, emails, and chat exchanges linked to the accused. These communications are now being examined closely to understand the extent of coordination between those involved. Officials have also found indications of possible financial transactions, which are under investigation
The police have identified HR Manager Nida Khan as the alleged 'mastermind' of the case. She is accused of suppressing complaints and protecting the accused employees.
In another key finding, an Assistant General Manager at the Nashik branch was reportedly in contact with one of the accused, Danish Shaikh, even after the case was registered. A call was allegedly made to him before his arrest. The SIT is now investigating whether there was organised collusion among the accused.
What the FIRs reveal
The FIRs describe several disturbing incidents over the years.
In one case, a woman said she was promised marriage by an accused and was then sexually exploited. In another case, women complained of being touched inappropriately and stared at in a way that made them uncomfortable.
Some victims said they were asked personal questions about their private lives. Others said they were followed, watched, and mentally harassed.
There are also claims that offensive remarks were made about religious beliefs, hurting the sentiments of the victims.
Allegations of forced religious practices
One of the most serious parts of the case involves claims of religious pressure.
Some women have alleged that they were forced to perform namaz and observe religious practices against their will. They also claimed they were made to eat non-vegetarian food despite their objections.
There are also allegations that attempts were made to convert their religion.
These claims are part of the FIRs and are being investigated by the police.
Role of Nida Khan under scanner
Investigators have described Nida Khan as a key figure in the case. She is accused of ignoring repeated complaints made by victims.
According to reports, around 78 emails and messages were sent to her by victims. However, she allegedly did not forward these complaints to senior officials.
Some victims have claimed that when they approached her, she dismissed their concerns by saying such behaviour is common in corporate offices.
Police believe she may have helped protect the accused by not taking action.
How the case came to light
The case started with a complaint by one woman employee. She alleged that a colleague had entered into a relationship with her on the promise of marriage.
As police began investigating, more women came forward with similar allegations. At least 12 victims have now been identified.
This turned the case into a larger investigation involving multiple accused and several incidents.
Police investigation and SIT probe
Given the seriousness of the allegations, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to handle the case.
Police have examined more than 40 CCTV footages. They are also recording statements from victims and accused persons.
An undercover operation was also carried out using women police officers to catch one of the accused.
Officials say the investigation is still ongoing and all evidence is being carefully studied.
Court proceedings and custody details
One of the accused, who held a senior operations role and was part of the ICC, was produced in court.
The prosecution asked for more police custody to continue the investigation. The court granted an extension, taking the custody period to April 15.
The prosecution said the case involves serious mental and sexual harassment, and more time is needed to gather evidence.
Response from TCS leadership
The case has drawn attention from top leadership at the Tata Group. N Chandrasekaran called the allegations “deeply concerning and anguishing.”
He said the company is treating the matter with full seriousness and has started an internal investigation.
TCS has said it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct.
Internal probe and next steps
The internal investigation is being led by Aarthi Subramanian. The company has promised strict action against anyone found guilty. It also said it will improve its processes if needed to prevent such incidents in the future.
TCS has assured full cooperation with the police.
This case highlights serious concerns about workplace safety, especially for young employees.
It also raises questions about how complaints are handled inside companies. The role of internal committees like the ICC is now under focus.
Experts say companies must ensure that such complaints are taken seriously and handled quickly.
Ongoing investigation
The police have said that the investigation is still in progress. More arrests may be made as new evidence comes to light.
Officials are also checking digital records and communication between the accused and victims.
The final conclusions will be drawn after all evidence is reviewed.
