Mamata Banerjee rebuts Amit Shah’s claims in Bengal; calls it ‘Garbage of lies’
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday (December 21) accused the Union Home Minister of lying and giving misinformation to the people of Bengal while criticising the state’s level of development.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on Monday (December 21) said that BJP is a “party of cheats and liars” and has been speaking a “garbage of lies” to misinform the people of West Bengal.
While addressing a press conference in Birbhum on Sunday (December 20), Union home minister Amit Shah said, “Bengal was once among the better-performing states, but now it was doing poorly on almost every indicator, be it GDP or per capita income.”
Counteracting Shah’s claim, Banerjee said, “Amit Shah said that our state is ‘zero’ in industry, but we are number one in the MSME sector. He claimed we couldn’t build rural roads but we are number one in that. This is Government of India’s information.”
Responding to the allegation that she was blocking Central schemes, the chief minister said she had written another letter to Union Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar about the implementation of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
The chief minister has agreed to implement the PM-Kisan and Ayushman Bharat schemes only if the Central funds are routed through the state government.
Shah had lambasted the state government for poor economic development parameters, but Banerjee said the home minister was “ill-informed” and his claims were “factually incorrect”.
Mamata Banerjee said "I would request Amit Shah not to shell out lies provided by your party workers without cross-checking,"
