Eight-year-old brutally murdered in north Kolkata; police detains three
An eight-year-old girl was found brutally murdered in an apartment of North Kolkata’s Jorabagan on Thursday (February 4). The girl, a resident of Sovabazar, had gone for a visit to her maternal uncle’s house on Wednesday (February 3).
The girl was reported to be missing on Wednesday night. Later, her body was found in a terrible state.
According to investigators, the way the girl’s body was found, partially clothed, throat slit, teeth smashed and clumps of her hair torn, suggests that she was raped.
The police are assuming that the girl may have known her assailants, which is why she may have been killed.
A joint team from the detective department and the Jorabagan police has detained three local residents for interrogation.
An investigating officer said, “The recovery of a blood-stained knife, four of her teeth, a clump of hair and clear signs of struggle at the murder spot suggests that the girl had put up a fight before she was killed.”
