COVID-19 cases are raging; here are type of masks that can give you better protection
With everyday rising COVID-19 cases in India, health experts have issued a revised version of guidelines for better protection and safety of the people.
Among all the other guidelines, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that people need to wear double masks for better protection instead of one cloth mask. Well, it can be difficult for many because of facial hair. So, CDC has suggested to shave or trim the beard for a better fit.
Here are the different ways of wearing your masks for better protection amid this second wave of COVID-19 as per CDC, "Have two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric. Completely cover your nose and mouth. Fit snugly against the sides of your face and don't have gaps. Have a nose wire to prevent air from leaking out of the top of the mask."
What should you avoid? As CDC has mentioned, you avoid wearing that are made of fabric and make it hard to breathe, for example, vinyl. Have exhalation valves or vents that allow virus particles to escape.
Are faceshields important? CDC says, “effectiveness is unknown at this time” but they are evaluating.
Children should also wear masks which are made specifically for them so that it fits properly leaving any gap. The mask must cover nose, under the chin and mouth. Kids below 2 years old must not wear any mask.
