Javier Bardem ascended the stage at the 98th Academy Awards, when things got a little political. Javier, a Spanish celebrity, took the stage and appealed for peace while also expressing sympathy for Palestine.

The Spanish star appeared on the 2026 Oscars stage with Priyanka Chopra Jonas to present the Best International Feature Film award. As predicted, his comment went viral, and it quickly became one of the night's most discussed moments. 

The awards presentation took place on March 16 at the renowned Dolby Theatre. The Oscars 2026 recognised the greatest films of 2025, but Bardem's comments added a serious twist.

Both Priyanka Chopra and Javier Bardem stepped on stage to accept the trophy. Javier Bardem was clear about the message he needed to convey in his address. "No to war, and free Palestine," he added before continuing with the lecture. 

His statements earned him great applause and support from the audience. Priyanka stood by Javier as he spoke, paying close attention to his words.

However, her reply demonstrated that she grasped the importance and gravity of Javier's sentiments. Priyanka worked as a National Ambassador for UNICEF India for a decade before joining the global Goodwill Ambassador team in December 2016.
