Mohanlal vs Mammootty: When netizens debate over who deserves Padma Awards more; here what they said

In 2019, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was awarded the Padma Bhushan by President Ram Nath Kovind, and that news has left netizens divided.

A few years ago, Mohanlal conferred the third highest civilian honour from President Ram Nath Kovind, the Padma Bhushan, which he truly deserves for his contributions to the film industry. 

Later, the actor took to his social media pages and shared images from the ceremony, captioning it: "Received Padma Bhushan, The Third Highest Civilian Award from The Honorable President of India, with sheer jubilation. I express my fervent gratitude to the Omnipotent Power above and also each well-wisher, who has directly or indirectly been a part of my journey. Truly rapturous with this inimitable moment."

Within minutes, his post received wishes and congratulations from his fans and his fellow actors according to the film industries. But some people started trolling the superstar accusing him of receiving the award because of his proximity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

He was also accused of being an ardent RSS supporter, and some social media users pointed out his previous meeting with PM Modi.

Mammootty fans also joined and started trolling and arguing that their hero also deserved an award. Some even pointed out that Mammootty's connection with CPI(M) is the main reason for his non-inclusion the Padma award winners list.

Today, Mammootty is celebrating 50 years in cinema; his debut film ‘Anubhavangal Palichakal’ was released on August 6, 1971. And on this occasion, his friend Mohanlal extend his wishes, “Today, my brother completes 50 glorious years in the film industry. I feel so proud to have shared the screen with him in 55 memorable films and looking forward to many more. Congratulations Ichakka! (SIC)"
