Shah Rukh Khan was once arrested after a journalist had filed a complaint against him, read on
We have many times read about Shah Rukh Khan's temper and fights, be it with Salman Khan or the one at the Wankhede stadium. Today, we will open an ex-file of 1992 when Shah Rukh had a huge meltdown with a journalist.
During the early 90s, Shah Rukh was the new sensation. He had delivered a few blockbusters under his name that time. He got into an ugly fight with a journalist of Cine Blitz magazine.
The whole incident was published in the book 'King of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan and the Seductive World of Indian Cinema'. According to Bollywood Hungama, King Khan had shot for a highly explicit scene with Deepa Sahi in Maya Memsaab.
The popular magazine Cine Blitz published a story that alleged that Ketan Mehta, who was the director of the movie, had asked Deepa to spend a night with Shah Rukh in a hotel to get comfortable with each other, before shooting for the scene.
The popular magazine Cine Blitz published a story that alleged that Ketan Mehta, who was the director of the movie, had asked Deepa to spend a night with Shah Rukh in a hotel to get comfortable with each other, before shooting for the scene.
The article further mentioned that Khan and Deepa complied and the next day, the shoot was done with only Ketan and the DOP present. The story was slanderous and defamatory, even till date. Moreover, that article did not have a byline and therefore nobody knew who wrote the article.
A day after the article was published, Khan ran into a Cine Blitz journalist, Keith D'Costa, at a film function and started abusing him assuming that he wrote it.
That’s not all. Next day, he went to Keith's house again and abused him in front of his parents, and threatened to castrate D'Costa.
On his editor's advice, Keith complained to the Mumbai Police and requested police protection from Khan. With the complaint and witnesses, Shah Rukh was arrested from Film City and was taken to Bandra Police Station.
Since Khan was a star, he was not jailed and a few of the cops even took his autograph and let him call Keith D'Costa. The report mentioned that, in front of the policemen, he told him, "I'm in jail but I'll come f*** you." At 11:30 pm in the night, Khan's family friend and actor Chikki Pandey got him out on bail.
Two years later, Shah Rukh apologised for his behavior to Keith after learning that he didn't write that article. It was Virginia Vacha, another Cine Blitz journalist, who wrote it.
Now about that intimate sequence in Maya Memsaab: The scene was removed from the movie because of the Censor Board, but in 2008, that particular shot was leaked on the internet and you can watch it on YouTube as well.
