2.58 Km road paved in 24 hours, NHAI contractor sets record

Here's a record many would barely believe is possible in India.

<p>A National Highway Authority of India contractor has created a world record for the laying of pavement quality concrete for a four-lane highway of 2,580 meters length within 24 hours.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>According to an NHAI statement, work on a stretch of the greenfield Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai 8-lane Expressway project started at 8 AM on February 1, 2021.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>Till 8 AM on next day, a total of 2,580 meters of four-lane or approximately 10.32 lane kilometres had been completed.&nbsp;</p>

According to an NHAI statement, work on a stretch of the greenfield Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai 8-lane Expressway project started at 8 AM on February 1, 2021.

Till 8 AM on next day, a total of 2,580 meters of four-lane or approximately 10.32 lane kilometres had been completed. 

<p>With a width of 18.75 meters, as much a 48,711 square meter area of concrete was laid for the expressway in 24 hours, the NHAI statement said, adding that the highest quantity of concrete laid in 24 hours (14,613 cubic metres) was also achieved.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>The feat by the contractor – Patel Infrastructure Limited - has been recognized by both the India Book of Records and the Golden Book of World Records.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>The record was made possible with the use of the world's largest fully automatic ultra-modern concrete paver machine.</p>

<p>In the Financial Year 2020-2021, the NHAI has been paving an average of about 28.16 km per day of roads.&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;</p><p>The Union Road Transport and Highways ministry has constructed 8,169 km of National Highways from April 2020 to January 2021.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>The government hopes to keep up the pace so that it is able to achieve the construction target of 11,000 km by March 31.</p>

In the Financial Year 2020-2021, the NHAI has been paving an average of about 28.16 km per day of roads. 

The Union Road Transport and Highways ministry has constructed 8,169 km of National Highways from April 2020 to January 2021.

The government hopes to keep up the pace so that it is able to achieve the construction target of 11,000 km by March 31.
