The Bollywood movie Veere Di Wedding is all about four friends featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania just like Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbes in the Hollywood film Sex and the City.
The first trailer of Veere Di Wedding was released at a grand event in Mumbai. The movie is slated for release on June 1.
The trailer of the much awaited Veere Di Wedding looked like an Indian version of Sarah Jessica Parker's hit TV show Sex And The City (SATC). Most of the conversations among the four friends Kareena, Sonam, Swara and Shikha could easily be the Hindi version of the pack of four friends in Sex and the City. The ladies in SATC lived in New York City and talked extensively about their sex lives and relationships.
However, filmmaker Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor have given an Indian twist to the film to fit it into a "Sanskari" framework as SATC is quite bold in every manner.
It looked like Sonam Kapoor was trying too hard to be Carrie Bradshaw and a bit of everything, Shikha Talsania does in 'NO WAY' fit into Miranda Hobbes' shoes, Swara Bhaskar is no Samantha Jones, and will Kareena pull out a successful Carrie Bradshaw? After the trailer, I am left confused (bhaiya aise kaise).
The 2.49-min video is full of swear words, slapstick moments and some witty one-liners, not so catchy dialogues, emotional drama. Sonam looked desperate to make the viewers laugh. The movie has nothing which keeps you hooked to the screen but can be a time pass movie.
If you notice, you will see how subtly the focus stays on well-known actresses Kareena and Sonam while the other two Shikha and Swara appear in support of the two leading ladies.
The movie revolves around, Kareena aka Kalindi, who is not ready for the marriage while her three friends carry the burden of difficult relationships themselves. The women are trying hard to make the viewers laugh, especially Sonam Kapoor. At least the trailer has nothing which keeps you hooked to the screen.
The movie has been shot across Delhi, Mumbai and Phuket. The best part of the movie are the colourful frames and beautiful locations. Bollywood's popular choreographer Farah Khan has worked for a song that also features Punjabi rapper Badshah.
This is my take on the Veere Di Wedding trailer. Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
