Tollywood sex racket: Clients gave up to $3,000 for each sexual encounter. Here are the details

A couple named Kishan Modugumudi (34) (alias Sreeraj Chennupati) and his wife Chandra Modugumudi (31) were arrested by the police and a 42-page criminal complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago.

According to reports, the two would attract starlets and budding actresses from Tollywood and advertise them for sex at high-end events. Also, the reports suggested that the racket charged clients up to $3,000 for each sexual encounter.

As per a report by Times of India, two of the five unnamed victims in the criminal report are popular Telugu actresses working in Bengaluru and Chennai. In an interview with News 18, actress Sri Reddy revealed that she had an encounter with the accused couple. “They will arrange visa and everything else for you. Artists are paid anything between $1000 and $10,000, depending on their popularity,” the channel quoted her as saying.

Another actress named Mehreen Pirzada says she was questioned by police for 30 minutes with regard to the sex racket.

Later, they questioned three top south Indian actresses for nearly six hours.

Mehreen Pirzada was questioned by officials of US Department of Homeland & Immigration at Vancouver airport in Canada. The actress was travelling from Vancouver to the US to meet her family after wrapping up the shoot of her film Pantham. The police grilled her when they came to know that she was an actress.

In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, she said, "I am shocked. It was so embarrassing. I was constantly travelling and wasn't aware of the emergence of news regarding such illegitimate activities. As an actress, I have got my recognition from the Telugu film industry. It is my bread and butter. When I revealed that I was a Telugu actress, I was questioned for 30 minutes,"

Mehreen also said that the actions of a few people put the whole Telugu film fraternity to shame and embarrassment. "Although the officials apologized for the inconvenience, they said that they would continue to question people until all those involved in the racket were taken to task. Their impression of Telugu actors is really embarrassing. As an artist, I felt it was a very awkward situation," said the actress.
