As Indian Idol season 12 is going strong gaining much attention, old videos of season 11 and its contestants are also doing rounds and one among them, in particular, is singer Sunny Hindustani. In one of the rounds, the singer made judges compare him with a Pakistani legendary Sufi singer for his song.

Sunny Hindustani, the winner of season 11 of Indian Idol made the world acknowledge him for his singing talent.

During one such episode on season 11 last year, what attracted the judges Anu Malik, Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar is his voice similarity with Pakistani Singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

As an untrained singer who just listened to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's songs on phone and practiced during his spare time from his boot polish workdays in Mumbai, Sunny's voice is now said to be similar to 'Nusrat Saab'.

Music Composer Anu Malik who after listening to the 'Mere Piya Ghar Aaya' song revealed that Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died in 1997 and exactly a year later Sunny Hindustani was born in Bhatinda. And the music composer said Sunny is the rebirth of the legendary singer.

Sunny's entry into season 11 was itself explosive as he shook the judges with Afreen Afreen IndiPop album that became a wave in the 1990s. The song featured Lisa Ray and became an instant hit.

Sunny once had also revealed that the legendary singer appears in his dreams and teaches him and the next day after he wakes up he practices and works on mastering the same tunes taught by the Sufi singer.
