In what become another controversy surrounding actor Darshan, director Indrajit Lakesh accused him of manhandling a Dalit waiter at Sandesh Hotel in Mysuru.

As per reports, Lankesh alleged that Darshan Thoogudeepa along with his friends Harsha, Melanta and Rakesh Papanna beat up a waiter in June during a late night party that was held during lockdown. Due to impact of assault, the waiter has lost his vision.

Terming the jurisdiction police station as 'settlement' center and working out a compromise to bury the case, Lankesh today met Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai and asked him to instruct Mysuru police to act in accordance to the law.

The director also stated that to hide the incident, the CCTV footage too was destroyed. He said he came out in open as he cannot remain silent when celebrities involve in such acts.

Hotel management agree on fiasco, but deny assault:

The MD of Hotel Sandesh said that the star was indeed in the hotel and organised a pool side party on that day. But said this was even before lockdown. Darshan on that day had only 'shouted' at the waiter for delay in service and had not 'hit' him.

The waiter was an intern from Maharashtra and was sent back after his course, the owner reportedly stated.

As 'small' incidents like this are very common in hotel industry, the management did not approach the police.

To a question on deletion of CCTV footage, the hotel owner allegedly stated that as the incident was 'old’ and the system is refreshed evey ten days on its own, the footage was 'deleted'.

As this news of owner's response was being flashed, Lankesh again held a presser and said that the claims made by the hotel owner is false as the victim is from Karnataka and he was sacked from his job after the incident. He also said many incidents like this have taken place but were not reported and also accused Darshan of hitting his own watchman following which the victim left the job. He also accused that one of Darshan's victim, Gopalraj Urs is in coma after being trashed by Darshan.

Darshan's response:

In response to Lankesh, Darshan sarcastically termed the director as 'very big investigator' and challenged the director to prove his allegations with proof.

Darshan also stated that he is being targeted by some invisible forces.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife that Darshan in 2019 had openly supported actress Sumalatha Ambareesh in Lok Sabha election and supporters of JD(S) were upset with this and as a result such false accusations are made against the actor.
