Can Rajinikanth's Kabali go bigger than Baahubali?

Rajinikanth's Kabali is Getting Bigger Than Prabhas's Baahubali

Superstar Rajinikanth usually shakes the box office with his movies. His Enthiran (Robot), featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was a huge blockbuster in 2010 across India as well.

Though this has not been the case recently. Rajini's newer films like Lingaa and Kochadaiyaan left distributors in losses and in those rare times even the superstar had to suffer criticism for the failure.

However, the tables seem set to be turned now. He is back in business thanks to his upcoming movie Kabali which has generated a massive amount of buzz even before the film releases.

According to reports, Kabali is counting higher digits than usual. The pre-release business has touched ₹200 crore already. Kabali is the first Indian film  to set such norms in pre-release business.

Kabali is releasing in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam simultaneously and it is on its way to becoming the first movie to release with such a massive pre-release. The last South Indian movie that was this big was SS Rajamouli's Baahubali, which also generated waves for its special effects and was also released across India.

However from the looks of it, Kabali is set to outstrip the Telugu offering, at least when it comes to hype. The makers and distributors have certainly pinned a lot of hopes on the film, which has been mostly shot in Malaysia, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

But the movie's real perfromance can only be judged on opening day .

The audio launch of Kabali has been pushing from 9th June to probably the 15th of June at either YMCA Ground or Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai in Telugu and Tamil.
