This Malayalam actress replaced Deepika Padukone in Majid Majidi's next

Deepika had auditioned for the role and was widely expected to land it. But it is now understood that Majidi handpicked Malavika as he was looking for someone that fit the character better.

Daughter of Bollywood cinematographer KU Mohanan, Malavika made her silverscreen debut through Malayalam film 'Pattam Pole' (2013) opposite Dulquer Salmaan.

Set in India, 'Beyond The Clouds' is a story centered around a brother-sister relationship.

The film also marks the debut of actor Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan Khatter.

Majidi is considered one of the flag-bearers of Iranian cinema and is known for masterpieces like 'Children of Heaven', 'The Color of Paradise' and 'Baran' and 'The Willow Tree'.
