Heres how much tax your favourite celebs are paying this year

In the financial year 2016-17, Salman Khan seems to have paid an advance tax of Rs 44.5 crore, which is much higher than his payment last year - Rs 32.2 crore.

So we can speculate that Salman’s annual income has increased by at least 39 percent. Akshay Kumar, who is second on the list, has paid Rs 29.5 crore in tax and Hrithik Roshan has paid Advance Tax worth Rs 25.5 crore.

All of this and more details have emerged from an India Today report, which claims to be based on information provided by an Income Tax Department official. As per that report,  the three celebs that have had the highest jump in their paychecks this year are filmmaker Karan Johar, TV star Kapil Sharma and actor Alia Bhatt.

The IT department source confirmed to India Today that Kapil Sharma's paycheck has multiplied by 206% and he has already paid an advance tax of Rs 23.9 crore as opposed to the Rs 7 crore which he paid last year. Karan Johar has upped his income by almost 473%, and Alia has raised her paycheck by 46%.

The IT department's list also mentions Bollywood biggies like Ranbir Kapoor, whose stock took a drop. He paid Rs 22.3 crore in the last financial year and has paid Rs 16 crore for 2016-17. Aamir Khan, who had blockbuster 2016 thanks to Dangal, which made a profit of Rs 140 crore, paid only Rs 14 crore in advance tax. Deepika Padukone, who made her Hollywood debut with xXx: Return of Xander Cage, paid Rs 10 crore in tax. And Kareena Kapoor Khan paid Rs 3.9 crore.

Tax details of Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan have not been released yet by the Income Tax Department because of their involvement in the Panama Papers scandal.
