Actor Dileep is currently facing serious trouble. The superstar has been implicated in the recent abduction and assault of a leading Malayalam actress, and police have arrested him for alleged conspiracy in the attack.

According to a daily, Dileep and his relatives are alleged to have real estate assets worth Rs 600 crore, as per an Enforcement Directorate (FD) estimate.

The same agency has also brought under the lens the financial transactions of all Malayalam movies produced over the last five years as it traces a trail of black money and hawala channels.

Dileep's business interests came under the spotlight after he was arrested last week. The actor is accused of offering Rs 1.5 crore to a gang of goons for torturing his former colleague and videotaping her suffering.

Reports also suggest that the ED has collected evidence of alleged Benami investments of several people in the multiplex which Dileep opened in Chalakudy three years ago. The Welcome to Central Jail actor is also accused of receiving funds from abroad for his real estate business. In an interview with The Times of India,  a senior ED official in Kochi said, Financial dealings of Dileep have come under the enforcement directorate lens. "We will look into the case as their investigation becomes productive. We will initiate a probe if the actor is involved in money laundering activities."

The actor has been an entrepreneur since 2014 when he launched his restaurant Dhe Puttu in Kochi and Kozhikode. Later, he also launched a multiplex called D Cinemas in Chalakudy. He has also invested in several properties in Kerala, in collaboration with some of his co-actors and friends.

According to India Today, a few years ago, the income tax department had submitted a report to the central government on several economic offences in the Malayalam film industry. Dileep too featured on that list. In a report published in Firstpost, It has been said that Dileep carried out 35 real estate deals in and around Kochi from 2005 till date.
