Last week, the Dada Saheb Phalke Foundation Awards for Excellence in South Cinema took place at the N Convention Centre in Hyderabad. It was a star-studded night and was attended by South Indian celebs who were dressed in their best. 

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu won the Best Actor award for his exceptional performance in Bharat Ane Nenu. The movie was a blockbuster in Tollywood. However, the superstar couldn't make it to the event because he was busy shooting for his upcoming release Sarileru Neekevvaru. His wife Namrata Shirodkar collected the award on his behalf.

Kannada actor Yash won the coveted Outstanding Performance of the Year award for his distinguished performance in director Prashanth Neel's KGF, which was released in Hindi also. Anushka Shetty won the Best Actress award for her performance in Bhaagamathie, while Keerthy Suresh was also awarded the Outstanding Performance of the Year award for her role in Mahanati. 

Payal Rajput won the well-deserved Best Debut Award in the female category for RX 100. Sukumar won Best Director Award for Rangasthalam, and Ratnavelu won Best Cinematographer for the same film. Senior actor Jagapathi Babu won the Best Actor in Negative Role for Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava. Devi Sri Prasad won the Best Music Director Award for Rangasthalam.
