11th edition of Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) from February 7 to 14

BIFFes will be held on first Thursday of February every year to make it easy to spot it on the  international film festival calendar.

Bengaluru: Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) will be held from February 7 to 14, 2019 in Bengaluru. The 11th edition of the festival too is being organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Karnataka.

The grand inauguration will be held in the presence of national and International delegates, filmmakers and celebrities at the Banquet Hall, Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, on February 7. The event will come to a close with the conferring of awards, on February 14.

Henceforth, BIFFes will be held on first Thursday of February every year to make it easy to spot it on the  international film festival calendar.

The special theme of this festival is  'Nature’s Fury'. BIFFes has got 11 screens at PVR Cinemas at Orion Mall in Rajajinagar.

The 10th edition was held between February 22 and March 1, 2018, where 223 films from more than 50 countries were screened on 12 screens. The festival was witnessed by more than 7,000 delegates.

The 11th edition will have films from the below stated sections and the selection will be made by expert committees.

1.   Cinema of the world

2.   Retrospectives

3.   Country focus

4.   Grand classics

5.   Homages and remembrances

6.   FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) award winners

7.   Network for promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award winners

8.   Biopics

9.   Unsung Incredible India,  films from little known languages

10. Curated documentary sections on a specific theme

Nearly about  200 films from about  50 countries will be screened under these categories.

Competitive sections for Asian, Indian and Kannada cinema will continue with cash prizes.  The section for cinema of popular entertainment and an award for lifetime achievement in cinema will also remain.

Registration is mandatory to take part in the festival and online registration facility would also be made available. Details on the same are expected from the organisers soon.

Delegate fee: Rs 800 for public, and Rs 400 for students, film society members, senior citizens and KFCC film fraternity.
