Child taken to godman for cure; toddler beaten to death in attempt to 'ward off evil'
Despite the continuous efforts to remove an evil called blind belief in witchcraft from society, cases of such nature seem to keep surfacing. A two-year-old child was beaten with sticks by a tantrik
Karnataka based parents of a two-year-old child had to pay the heavy price of the life of their child after they consulted a godman for a cure.
The child had shown some behavioural changes and concerned parents consulted a person by name of Parashuram, who suggested they take their daughter to his brother who is a “godman”.
The girl's father Praveen and his wife were made to stand outside, and the child was beaten with sticks to “ward off evil”. As the child started to scream, the parents could hear her cry, but were under the assumption that it was part of the “treatment”. They later took the girl to hospital, but the child died.
The alleged godman is identified as Rakesh, a 19-year-old from Ajjikyathanahalli village.
The exorcist and his brother Parashuram have been arrested for killing the toddler and a case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the IPC and Black Magic Act of 2017 a report said.
