India, under Shastri’s guidance, reached the pinnacle of ICC Test rankings. They have been doing well in all three formats. However, an ICC trophy has eluded. Also, with Shastri as the coach, India achieved what no other team could in Australia. They won a Test series for the first time ever in 71 years.

The Kohli-led India Test team beat Australia 2-1 in 2019. They are set to travel again Down Under later this year.

Currently, India is under a lockdown due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Recently, Shastri had said IPL and domestic cricket should be given importance when the sport resumes post-COVID-19.
