Irfan Pathan to play for Kandy Tuskers in Lanka Premier League

Legendary Indian player Irfan Pathan is visiting back his cricketing days and is all set to hit the grounds for the Lankan Premier League. In this tournament, he will play for Kandy Tuskers franchisee. Pathan is retired from international, as well as Indian domestic cricket.

Former Indian legendary player, now a commentator, Irfan Pathan is all set to play Lanka Premier League, which is scheduled to begin from November 21. The seam master will be playing for Kandy Tuskers, the franchisee-owned by Sohail Khan, actor Salman Khan’s brother.

“I am extremely excited to be part of the Kandy franchisee in LPL. We have some exciting names in the team and I am looking forward for the experience,” said Pathan.

Even the franchisee owner Sohail Khan is positive about Pathan’s playing and said, "Irfan’s inclusion will not only add to the firepower of the squad, but his experience will be a huge asset to the team.”

Besides Pathan, two other Indian players, Manvinder Bisla and Manpreet Gony were also roped in by the franchise last week.

Kandy Tuskers players' composition speaks for itself. It has the players, who are T20 specialists and have West Indies giant Chris Gayle, Sri Lanka's Kusal Perera and specialist Kusal Mendis, along with Nuwan Pradeep, while England right-arm pacer Liam Plunkett is also among the players. The team will be coached by Hashan Tillakaratne.

The opening match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will see a clash between Colombo and Galle in Hambantota on November 21.

However, Kandy Tuskers will play their first match against Jaffna.
